Future Landscapes

The global climate and biodiversity crises are having and will continue to have a fundamental impact on the future character of the landscape in the UK and its characteristic natural and cultural features. In the UK, the increasing population and the consequent demand for homes and infrastructure, or agricultural change due to the need for future food security, will also have a fundamental impact on the future character of our landscapes. Now is the time to think strategically about the future of our landscape and what we want it to provide. The holistic understanding of existing landscape character offered by the Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) process means that it has a key role in helping to manage and guide that change.
